StellarCaptions ("we," "us," "our") is operated from Canada. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account information — your email address when you create an account.
• Usage data — credit consumption, session timestamps, and your chosen language preferences.
• Billing information — payment transactions are handled entirely by Stripe. We never store payment card numbers or banking details.
• Audio and transcription — audio is processed in real time to generate captions and translations. It is not stored on our servers beyond what is required to deliver results to you in that session.

• To deliver and improve the StellarCaptions service
• To track credit usage and process billing
• To send transactional emails (receipts, account notices)
• To respond to support requests
• To detect and prevent violations of our Terms of Service

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

We use the following services to operate StellarCaptions. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Stripe — payment processing
• OpenAI — real-time audio transcription and translation

Audio processed through the service is transmitted to OpenAI for transcription. Please review OpenAI's privacy policy for details on how they handle this data.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Transcript data you save is stored until you delete it. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent and request deletion of your data
• Know how your data is being used

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), database-level access controls, and row-level security. No transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but take commercially reasonable steps to protect your data.

We use session cookies and browser local storage for authentication and user preferences (such as your selected interface language). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that profile you across other websites.

StellarCaptions is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
